Sandwiched on Lexington

RKF, the exclusive retail leasing agent in Manhattan for Pret A Manger, has arranged a 2,577 s/f lease for the U.K.-based sandwich chain at 600 Lexington Avenue, a boutique 36-story trophy office tower on East 52nd Street.

The new Pret A Manger will build on the brand’s expansion throughout the Manhattan market.

Over the last two years, RKF has arranged a dozen new leases for the chain as the brand continues to grow. With the new location, Pret A Manager will have a total of 39 Manhattan stores.

RKF executive vice president Ariel Schuster and senior director Jackie Totolo represented Pret A Manger in the transaction, while RKF’s schuster and senior director Ross Berkowitz also represented the landlord, SL Green Realty Corp.

According to Schuster, “The corner presence at 600 Lexington is in line with the brand’s expansion plan and provides a large store format to accommodate Pret’s various sit-down and on-the-go customers.”

Pret A Manger – which translates to “ready to eat” – was founded in London in 1986 and caters to the lunchtime crowd with quick, fresh, grab-and-go sandwiches and salads.

It opened its first US location in 2001 and has quickly expanded throughout New York City, with additional locations in Boston, Chicago and Washington D.C. Pret A Manger currently operates more than 300 shops worldwide.
