Salt Bae to open new burger joint on Park Avenue South

Celebrity chef Nusret Gökçe, known worldwide as Salt Bae, has inked a new retail lease for his burger-centric restaurant at 220 Park Avenue South in Union Square .

The lease includes 2,800 s/f of ground-floor space, as well as 3,200 s/fon the lower level for storage and preparation. Nusr-Et Burger is slated to open in Summer 2019.

CBRE’s Eric Gelber and Jordan Kaplan represented Salt Bae, who also owns the chain of Nusr-Et Steakhouses, in the lease negotiations. CBRE colleagues Lon Rubackin and Michael Kadosh acted on behalf of the ownership. Additionally, Meister Seelig & Fein’s Hotel & Hospitality Chair, Christy Reuter, represented Nusret Holdings in the lease negotiations.

“For Salt Bae’s second location in New York City, he wanted a fresh, hip space in an area that was easily accessible from all parts of the city and bustling with locals, tourists and business people. Park Avenue South was the perfect fit, home to some of the world’s best restaurateurs,” said Kaplan of CBRE. “Nusr-Et Burger is a concept built from Salt Bae’s popular steakhouses that incorporate his unique meat preparation and seasoning. This new location will incorporate the best in food and spirited ambiance that Nusr-Et patrons expect and appreciate.”

“The Union Square area of Park Avenue South continues to thrive, as it appeals to both the office and residential markets, especially given its close proximity to one of NYC’s top transpiration hubs. We had significant interest in 220 Park Avenue South from a variety users. For Salt Bae, the neighborhood checked all of the boxes that the brand was looking for to showcase its Nusr-Et Burger concept,” said Kadosh of CBRE. “220 Park Avenue South is an impressive space, with great history, high ceilings, large windows and frontage on both Park Avenue South and East 18th Street – it’s a perfect fit for a brand like Nusr-Et.”

The new restaurant at 220 Park Avenue South marks Salt Bae’s second venture in New York City, where he opened a Nusr-Et Steakhouse in 2018. The Nusr-Et brand, which includes both steakhouses and burger restaurants, operates more than 10 locations across the world.
