The nation’s largest massage therapy franchise, Massage Envy, is to open its first ever clinic in New York City early next year.
Massage Envy Spa franchisee John N. Vatistas has signed a lease in the for 3,400 s/f at 312 East 23rd Street, between 1st and 2nd Avenue.
The location is set to open early next year and will employ approximately 20 to 25 massage therapists and other essential staff. It will bring the total number of operating clinics in New York to 29.
Scot Sher, senior vice president at Sabre, repped Massage Envy in the lease. Winick represented the landlord, 312 East 23, LLC.
atistas, a Staten Island native, built his real estate brokerage company from the ground up in 2005 and became the world’s largest Sotheby’s International Realty franchisee. He recently joined Massage Envy Spa as a multi-unit franchisee.  In addition to the New York City clinic, he has committed to developing five additional clinics in Massachusetts.
“We’ve been looking to expand into New York City for quite some time — and finally found the right location and the right franchisee to make it happen,” said Lori Merrall, Massage Envy Spa’s national director of franchise sales.

Today, there are nearly 900 locations operating in 48 states, making Massage Envy Spa the largest system of franchised massage clinics in the industry.
