The law firm of Adam Leitman Bailey, PC, has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the men who killed New Jersey lawyer, Dustin Friedland.
Friedland, 30, was shot by gunmen who car-jacked his 2012 Range Rover while he was Christmas shopping in Jersey’s Short Hills Mall with his 27-year-old wife, Jamie, on Sunday night.
Jamie is a landlord-tenant attorney at Adam Leitman Bailey.
“We are stunned by this tragedy,ˮ said Adam Bailey, principal at the firm. “Jamie is a terrific attorney and she loves practicing law. Her husband was very proud of her and excited about their future together.ˮ
Bailey said his firm has offered the reward in the hope that someone will come forward with information.
“We are hoping that the money will bring those responsible for this murder to justice and give the families who are grieving some closure.ˮ
Bailey hired Jamie straight out of law school and recalled speaking with her husband just last week at an office party. “We just made three females partner and Dustin told me he was thrilled that one day his wife might be able to make partner at our firm because there is no glass ceiling here,ˮ said Bailey.
“I recruited Jamie from [Syracuse University College of Law] when I called up the Dean and asked who the best graduate was. Jamie was his answer.ˮ
Jamie met Dustin at Syracuse and the two married in 2011. He worked on construction-related legal issues at his father’s air conditioning contrating firm. They recently bought their first home in Hoboken NJ.
According to police, the couple had gone Christmas shopping at the tony mall on Sunday. When they returned to their car around 9.30 p.m. laden with packages, they were accosted by two men.
As Dustin struggled with one, he was struck and killed by one of “multipleˮ bullets fired. The second man jumped into the Range Rover and ordered Jamie out. The car was later discovered with a smashed rear window in Newark, NJ, on Monday morning.
The funeral for Justin will be held today (Wednesday).
