CONGRATULATIONS to Roberto Cabrera, the TOWN broker who won this year’s New York Times N.C.A.A. basketball pool.

According to the newspaper, Cabrera correctly picked Duke to win and Wisconsin as the runner-up. He was also perfect on the rest of the Final Four, and the entire round of 8, including fourth-seeded Louisville meeting seventh-seeded Michigan State in a regional final.
That was enough to beat out 17,799 others who submitted completed brackets.
The win gets him an Apple watch.

Level Group held a launch party for its office at 6 Spring Street in SoHo last week.
According to president Larry Link, the party was a reflection of his firm’s intention to play an active role in the community.
“We’re a boutique firm and we emphasize personal relationships in our business dealings,” said Link.
“We are consciously cultivating those kinds of relationships. We’re also ramping up our social responsibility program. Giving back is important to us.”
During the soiree, food and clothing donations were collected for the Bowery Mission, which provides services to area homeless men, women and children.
Plans are also in motion for the brokerage to donate computers to the Mission and for brokers to participate in volunteer activities.
Level Group is also having a series of free workshops when brokers Jeremy Swillinger and Sonia Patel will offer buyers and renters advice on the market.

Halstead Property agents donated more than 5,000 gently-worn coats to New Yorkers in need as part of the New York Cares’ 2014 Coat Drive.
Halstead was the fundraiser’s largest single donor in New York City.
The drive marked one of several initiatives spearheaded by the firm’s philanthropic arm, Halstead Helping Hands in 2014.
“We are honored to have worked alongside numerous philanthropic programs over the past year, particularly New York Cares,” said John Wollberg, executive director of sales of Halstead’s Park Avenue office.
“It was a wonderful experience for our agents and staff to lend a helping hand to these important causes and give back to the communities that we serve.”
Halstead Helping Hands, is a private philanthropic foundation established by Wollberg, Sara Rotter and Trish Martin.
In addition to the Coat Drive, Helping Hands took part in several other initiatives, including Movember in 2014, which raised over $19,000 for men’s health; the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge; New York Cares’ Spring Day; cleaning parks in Red Hook; painting and revitalizing schools in the Bronx and Brooklyn; collecting over 75 bags of clothing, food, and school supplies after the tragic East Harlem building collapse; purchasing holiday gifts for children in need; and a Brooklyn public school cleanup.
