The historic Ross-Hand Mansion in South Nyack has been sold for $1.72 million.

Built in the 1850s by New York City architect Azariah Ross, it was rebuilt in the 1880s by William H. Hand, whose grandson was a laboratory assistant to Thomas Edison.
Donna Cox of Better Homes & Gardens Rand Realty listed the property at $1,852,500 in the fall of 2018. Laura Weintraub of Weld Realty was the buyer’s agent. No word on who the buyer is, but the area itself has become a favorite haunt of low profile celebs.
Scarlett Johansson owns a house in Snedens Landing, just south of Nyack on the Palisades, where her neighbors include Swedish songbird Bjork and actor Bill Murray.
Nyack itself counts U2 drummer Larry Mullen, Freaks & Geeks actor John Francis Daley and Rosie O’Donnell among its most famous residents.
