Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) Retail, and Newmark Holdings, announced that Town Sports International, owner and operator of New York Sports Clubs, has signed a 20-year lease for 29,210 s/f at 4 Astor Place in NoHo.
The property was previously home to David Barton Gym. NGKF Vice Chairman Chris Mongeluzo represented the tenant, and NGKF Executive Managing Director Ross Kaplan represented the owner, Newmark Holdings, in the transaction.
Slated to open in May of 2017, this Elite New York Sports Club will maintain much of the vibrant, nightlife aesthetics that made its predecessor noteworthy. The new club will boast state-of-the-art exercise equipment, a diverse schedule of group fitness classes, modern locker room amenities and all the necessary resources to achieve a personalized fitness experience.
“With the appropriate layout already in place, 4 Astor Place offered the perfect setup for this Elite New York Sports Club,” said Kaplan. “Neighborhoods like NoHo and the nearby East Village enjoy businesses that lend themselves to healthy lifestyles, especially chic facilities like this one. The new fitness club is certain to thrive here.”
“We are delighted to welcome New York Sports Clubs to our property at 4 Astor Place, which is located in the heart of an incredibly vibrant and creative neighborhood,” said Newmark Holdings Co-CEO Brian Steinwurtzel. “Our team works tirelessly to select the right tenants for the community and the building; New York Sports Club, with its loyal and devoted following, is a very strong fit.”
