Edison inks retail lease with wellness center

Edison Properties has signed a lease with SportsMed Physical Therapy, a physical therapy chiropractic, acupuncture and wellness center, for 2,124 s/f to occupy the third storefront retail space at Ironside Newark.

SportsMed Physical Therapy is expected to open in the spring of 2021, and joins additional retailers Oren’s Daily Roast and Halal Guys at Newark’s newest, premier office building.

“SportsMed Physical Therapy is a great addition to the growing retail offerings at Ironside Newark, and a testament to the building’s attractive location next to mass transit and the redevelopment of the downtown Newark business district,” said Lenny Lazzarino, Senior Vice President of Leasing of Edison Properties.

“SportsMed Physical Therapy has a great brand known throughout northern New Jersey, and we welcome them to the Edison Properties family.”

“Ironside has been a driving force in Newark’s ongoing evolution as a major hub of commerce, shopping and business,” said Aisha Glover, President & Chief Executive Officer of Newark Alliance. “I’m excited for SportsMed Physical Therapy to call Newark home and continue growing the downtown community offerings.”

Ironside Newark, located at 110 Edison Place, is a circa-1907 warehouse in downtown Newark that has been redeveloped and restored by Edison Properties into a commercial and retail hub across more than 456,000 s/f.

Designed by Perkins Eastman, Ironside Newark is currently 76 percent occupied with major tenants including Mars Wrigley Confectionary’s North American headquarters, architecture firm Ware Malcomb, law firms Pearlman & Miranda and Robinson Miller, and the new headquarters for Edison Properties.

Ironside’s office amenities include future restaurant outdoor seating fronting the new Mulberry Commons Park, a two-story lobby atrium, rooftop terrace, a dark fiber optic network, loft-style and open workspaces.

Jason Pierson and Ryan Starkman of Pierson Commercial Real Estate represented Edison Properties. Tony Nabhan of Keller Williams City Views Realty represented SportsMed Physical Therapy.
