SELLING an apartment is sweet — no matter how many times you sell it.

Veteran Douglas Elliman broker Carol Staab — a certified New York Residential Specialist — just closed on apartment 6A at 1049 Fifth Avenue for $2.09 million.
It’s the third time Staab has sold the 1,200 s/f Carnegie Hill condo.
She first sold the pre-war two bedroom for $800,000 in 1998. In February 2010, she sold it again — this time for $1.75 million.
Those Long Island-based owners decided to upgrade to a bigger pied-a-terre this summer and asked Staab to put it on the market again.
“The sellers have a large home in Long Island and a winter home in Boca Raton,ˮ said Carol. “This was their first pied-a-terre in the city. They have since decided to spend more time in the city and want to move up to a larger apartment with Central Park or open city views.ˮ
The new owners are a Buenos Aires couple who bought the apartment as an investment property. It’s already listed as an $8,500 a month rental with their broker, Douglas Elliman’s Diego Plaza.
Carol admits that being a resident of the building herself has helped her become one of its top brokers. “I know every nuance of every sale and every detail of the building’s physical and financial condition,ˮ she said.
