Buyers are warming up to new technology — just ask Gerald Magpily.

The Nest Seekers agent helped a retired investor buy a midtown condo via video link.
With the aim of generating additional income, the client was looking for a mid-priced unit with low carrying costs.
“He had seen at least 50 apartments; typically, three or four a day in person with me and he was usually exhausted by the end of all the showings,” said Magpily.
When a one-bedroom at 333 East 45th Street hit the market at $780,000, the client happened to be in Los Angeles, so Magpily connected with him using an app called Google Duo.
“This was the first time either of us had used the app” said Magpily. “The client loved the fact that he was in warm Los Angeles while it was a cold 20 degrees in New York during the time of the showing.”
Tsuruko Shirakawa and Sus Tokunaga of Furumoto Realty represented the seller in the deal, which closed at $750,000.
“This was the first time I attempted a sales showing through a live video call — I would certainly do it again,” said Magpily.
