Brookfield Office Properties Inc. (announced that Bright Horizons Family Solutions, a worldwide operator of child care centers, will open a new two-level child care center and pre-school to serve office tenants and the residential community at the redesigned, Brookfield Place on the waterfront in Downtown Manhattan.
Bright Horizons will provide full-service care and early education as well as offer employer-sponsored back-up child care for parents when their regular, everyday child care option is unavailable.
“Brookfield Place is at the nexus of the dynamic FiDi, Battery Park City and Tribeca neighborhoods, and there is a clear demand among office workers and residents for flexible child care services in addition to the prosperous retail, restaurants, fitness facilities and parkland that have transformed the area,” said David Cheikin, vice president of leasing for Brookfield Office Properties.
Bright Horizons has signed a long-term lease for 6,600 s/f of retail space at 200 Liberty Street, with an entrance along South End Avenue in Battery Park City.
Occupancy is scheduled for mid-2014. The center is expected to accommodate 100 children, and Kindergarten Prep.
