Corcoran brokerage bolsters agent ranks, opens more offices

Between June and August of 2014, The Corcoran Group added 90 new real estate agents to its roster in the four market areas served by the firm, including 37 agents in Manhattan, 30 in Brooklyn, 14 on Long Island’s East End and nine in South Florida.

To accommodate the new agents who have joined Corcoran over the past three months, the company has signed leases for three new, larger office spaces in prime SoHo and Chelsea locations in Manhattan and Bridgehampton, Long Island.

The recruitment drive brings Corcoran’s total number of Manhattan agents to 1,228, up over 10 percent from this time last year, according to the last ranking of brokerage size done by The Real Deal earlier this year.

Douglas Elliman has 1,725 city agents, according to the same ranking, followed by Halstead (721) and Citi Habitats (703).

All three new Corcoran offices will feature high-tech interior designs. Each will include more casual interiors with Wi-Fi lounges, new styles for meeting areas, and an emphasis on enabling an increasingly mobile way of working.

“Corcoran is experiencing terrific growth, and as we continue to expand, we are attracting high-quality agents that recognize the value of the services, opportunities and support Corcoran provides its agents,” said Pamela Liebman, president and CEO of The Corcoran Group.

“We are excited to welcome 90 new agents into the Corcoran family and creating three new homes where they can thrive.”

The firm’s new Chelsea office will relocate to 216-218 West 18th Street and take over the 13,500 s/f sixth floor in spring 2015.

The new office will have interiors by Incorporated Architecture & Design and will be neighbors with other major brands in its building, including Red Bull’s New York headquarters.

The Corcoran SoHo office, scheduled to open in spring 2015, is moving to 524 Broadway, a cast iron Soho loft building where it is taking over the 15,000 s/f third floor.

CetraRuddy will create new office interiors in the space which features fourteen-foot ceilings, original columns and four exposures.

In Bridgehampton, Long Island, where Corcoran has two offices, the office currently housed at 2405 Main Street is moving down the block to 2411 Main Street, a gallery-like space to be designed by architecture and interior design firm, Environetics.

The Bridgehampton storefront office is located on the main South Fork artery of Route 27/Montauk Highway and has both on-site and street parking.
