Richard Haggerty, CEO of the Hudson Gateway Association of REALTORS ® (HGAR), has been inducted into the national Dr. Almon R. Smith, RCE, AE Leadership Society.
Haggerty was one of only seven people in the country to be included in this prestigious Society this year.
Members of this Leadership Society are recognized as leading contributors to the real estate industry
and the profession.
Much like a Fellows program, members play an active, ongoing role as innovators and mentors for the Association Executive community. This distinction is also awarded in recognition of the honoree’s ongoing commitment to the advancement of REALTOR® association management and anticipated future contributions.
Haggerty was appointed CEO of HGAR in 2012. Prior to that, he had served as Deputy CEO for many years and also held various positions within the REALTOR® Association since 1984.
He has coordinated over 550 arbitrations, ethics hearings, and mediations during his tenure with the Association.
He has been a speaker and instructor for numerous state and local REALTOR® Associations including the New York State, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Oregon, and the US Virgin Islands Associations of REALTORS®.
He is also a current Board member and past Chair of Community Capital New York, a not-for-profit alternative lender that provides funding for affordable housing projects as well as small business loans throughout the New York Hudson Valley region.
Prior to his retirement in 1997, Dr. Smith was the Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of REALTORS ® (NAR) for six years. His tenure concluded his total of 30 years of key roles in the administration of REALTOR® organizations.
Douglas Elliman Real Estate announced that Matthew Morris has joined the firm and will be part of the Luis D. Ortiz Team.
Morris has a track record of sales in the international ultra-luxury market – most recently in Dubai with Sotheby’s International.
His real estate career began in Dubai after a friend in the business suggested he might be interested. He
was tasked with marketing exclusive villas in Victory Heights, near the Ernie Ells golf course, and in Emirate Hills, around the Montgomeri Golf Course.
In just two and a half weeks, he closed his first deal, and the second contract came one week later. Morris quickly became the top agent in Victory Heights and was one of the top three agents in Emirate Hills. He ranked in the top 32 percent of agents across Dubai.
Originally from London, Morris grew up with his mother, Clodagh Rodgers, a singer and actress. He was a top ranked tennis player in England before moving to Los Angeles, where he attended drama school and worked as a body double for an A-list actor for over 10 years.
He split his time between London and Los Angeles, while traveling the world, before settling in Dubai. He now resides in Brooklyn, New York with his wife.
Saunders, the East End real estate brokerage, announced that Jennifer Robertson has joined the firm.
She will first be based in the Bridgehampton office and then work in Saunders’ new East Hampton office when it opens later this month.
Robertson joins Saunders after working most recently for Strough Associates in Sag Harbor. She brings valuable experience with waterfront and landmark properties.
Prior to pursuing a career in real estate, Robertson worked as a Senior Marketing Manager for the Dreyfus Corporation in New York City where she was responsible for marketing a variety of programs.
Robertson lived in Sag Harbor for six years and subsequently, she and her husband purchased in East Hampton where they have resided for the past five years.
DJK Residential announced the recent hire of residential agent Judy Steinfeld.
Steinfeld has extensive experience in international sales, particularly highly coveted vacation homes in top travel destination location Chile.
With more than 30 years of sales experience, her portfolio includes owning and managing properties in New York City, Woodstock, NY and in Chile – three areas in which she splits her time.
Her areas of expertise also include renovation, interior design, redecorating and remodeling, which have also proven to be a helpful asset in the success of her brokerage work, matching a client with their home.
In addition to working in real estate, Steinfeld is a licensed therapist.
She continues to follow her passion for traveling, which has taken her to Europe, India, Asia, South America and various destinations throughout the United States.
