WHO’S NEWS: Commercial appointments and promotions

Colliers International announced that industry veteran Fred Trump has joined the firm as Executive Director in its New York Brokerage group. He will be based in the Manhattan office.

Trump — the nephew of President Elect Donald Trump — has more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience and a background in asset management, landlord representation and tenant representation.
He joins Colliers from Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, where he focused on agency leasing and tenant representation after leading the firm’s New York City Downtown office for several years.

His client roster includes Hachette Book Group, HFMUS, Klingenstein Fields Wealth Management, and AXA, for which he completed a headquarters transaction in New York.

Trump began his real estate career at the Edward S. Gordon Company. He later served as a vice president at the Shorenstein Company.

Later, he focused on asset management and the development and implementation of strategic financial plans for owners such as Chase Manhattan Bank, John Hancock Mutual Life, Steven Witkoff, and Sheldon Solow at Insignia/ESG and then CBRE following their merger.

Trump also served as relationship manager for DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners, Inc. overseeing the leasing and management of a 1 million-square-foot, multi-state portfolio.

He earned a B.A. from Lehigh University.

New York-based real estate investment bank Eyzenberg & Company announced that it has hired three professionals to bolster its business development and transactional management capabilities.

Ian Ponniah joins as managing director, and Katherine Cartagena and Anastasia Vladislavova come on board as business development associates.

Ian Ponniah, who joins from Fort Amsterdam Capital, will focus on the placement and execution of capital raise engagements.

He has also held positions at Aristone Realty Capital, NewOak Capital, Madison Equities, Wall Street Realty Capital and ABN AMRO.

Katherine Cartagena and Anastasia Vladislavova, who are both graduates of the NYU Schack real estate masters program, are responsible for identifying potential debt and equity real estate business opportunities.

Eyzenberg noted that the new hires are a part of a growth strategy that anticipates adding several new professionals per quarter as the firm expands its client base in New York and continues to service existing clients throughout the U.S.

Eastern Consolidated has promoted four Associate Directors to Director — Ramin Daniali, Ilya Gamer, Ron Kavral, and Chris Savvinidis.

Ramin Daniali recently sold a multifamily property at 86-50 77th Street in Woodhaven, Queens for close to $13 million.

Before joining Eastern Consolidated, he spent more than 14 years as a property manager, owner, broker, and investor in residential and commercial properties in Manhattan and the outer boroughs.

Ilya Gamer recently sold a premier retail site leased by Apple Bank at 426 86th Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, for over $7 million.

He previously worked at Crown Acquisitions where he was responsible for sourcing high street retail acquisition opportunities between $20 million and $60 million.

Fluent in Russian, Gamer holds a master’s degree in Real Estate Development and Urbanism from the University of Miami School of Architecture, and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology from Hunter College.

Ron Kavral recently arranged the sale of 51 sponsor-held co-op units in a seven-story elevator building in North Riverdale, the Bronx.

Prior to joining Eastern Consolidated, Kavral was an Investment Sales Associate at a boutique real-estate firm, and a Private Banking and Investment Management Associate Analyst with a Bank of America Merrill Lynch PBIG group.

He is a graduate of Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business with a BBA degree in Finance and Investments.

Chris Savvinidis recently arranged the sale of a development site in Astoria, and is currently marketing a number of development sites in Long Island City and Astoria.
Prior to joining Eastern Consolidated, he served as Director of Investment Sales at Northeastern Group LTD.

Savvinidis is fluent in Greek and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Regional Development & Urban Planning from the University of Arizona.

Greystone announced that Kelly Cush has been appointed Senior Underwriter in the FHA group.

Bringing over 15 years of experience and having underwritten and closed more than $1 billion in HUD transactions, Cush will serve a key role in handling Greystone’s growing volume of healthcare FHA loans.

Prior to joining Greystone, Cush was employed for seven years with Housing & Healthcare Finance, LLC, most recently serving as its Chief Underwriter.

Before that, she worked with Red Capital as an FHA multifamily and healthcare underwriter for seven years.

Cush is certified as an Approved Underwriter in both HUD MAP and HUD LEAN transactions.

Kevin O’Shea received his law degree, cum laude, from St. John’s University School of Law in 1984 and his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1980.

Erwin Dweck received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2001 and his B.A. from Columbia University in 1998.

Yaakov Sheinfeld received his law degree from The George Washington University Law School in 2006 and his B.S. degree in Finance from Yeshiva University in 2003.

Houlihan Lawrence Commercial Group announced the appointment of Rich Aponte to its Westchester-based team as associate broker.

With over a decade of commercial real estate experience from Rand, Aponte brings to this role a diverse background in construction and design as well as an extensive portfolio of properties.

He has sold and leased a variety of commercial properties throughout the Hudson Valley, including land, Class ‘A’ office space, industrial, multi-family and investment properties.

As a project manager in the construction industry, he was responsible for managing the development of office spaces in Manhattan and Westchester.

The Commercial Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island (CIBS)announced that a new executive board has been elected to open the organization’s 25th anniversary year.

The new executive board members, who will serve two-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2017, are:

President Kyle Burkhardt. He is a senior director in the Melville office of Cushman & Wakefield Inc. and formerly was vice president of CIBS.

Vice president David Leviton. He is a senior vice president in the Melville office of CBRE and formerly was treasurer of CIBS.

Treasurer Daniel J. Wiener. He is a senior director in the Melville office of Avison Young and formerly was secretary of CIBS.

Secretary Michael Rosenfeld. He is an associate broker at The Rochlin Organization, Melville. He previously was a CIBS board member.

Current president David Chinitz will become chair of the CIBS Advisory Board. He is president of Park Place Realty, Melville.

Cignature Realty Associates has hired Elan Teichman as a territory based Investment Sales Representative in the Upper West side of Manhattan.

Teichman is a graduate from Yeshiva University in New York where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history, with co-minors in psychology and business and a full scholarship to the Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Honors Program.

During college he held internships in both government and the financial sector. Most recently he worked as an analyst at CB Alliance, a boutique private equity firm.

Teichman also worked at Accelerant Ventures, a venture capital fund and PineBridge Investments, an asset management firm, both in New York.

He also worked as an intern at the United Nations Correspondents Association, UNCA, where he wrote articles on major news stories, covering international business and politics.

The Weichert Family of Companies has announced that David Hardy has been named president of its wholly owned property management company, Aureus Property Management.

In this role, Hardy will be responsible for all corporate functions and service teams and hold ultimate responsibility for the company’s strategic growth and the execution of the Aureus value proposition.
Prior to joining Aureus, Hardy was an executive director with FirstService Residential, overseeing the company’s property management operations in Northern New Jersey and Southern New York.

He also spent 17 years at Realogy Corporation in a variety of roles including senior vice president of operations for Century 21 Real Estate and senior vice president of business development for the company’s Real Estate Franchise Group.

Hardy completed the CEO Academy at The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania and the Managing Technical Professionals and Organizations program at MIT Sloan School of Management, and is Lean Six Sigma certified.

Andrew Sikiric, Vice President of Jerome Haims Realty, Inc. was recently awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by the CCIM Institute, one of the leading commercial real estate associations in the world.

Sikiric, who also holds the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute and is a New York State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, joins a select group of commercial real estate practitioners. Only about six of the estimated 150,000 commercial real estate practitioners nationwide hold the CCIM designation.

Sikiric focuses on the valuation of real estate and has completed hundreds of appraisals within his primary market area of New York City, as well as in his secondary markets of Long Island, Connecticut, Westchester, and Northern New Jersey.

Sikiric has over 10 years of commercial real estate appraisal and consulting experience. In addition to valuation services, he provides real estate consulting services.

Bluerock Real Estate has appointed 32-year industry veteran Jeffrey S. Schwaber as CEO of Bluerock Capital Markets, LLC, the managing broker dealer for Bluerock’s suite of investment products and funds.
Schwaber joins Bluerock from Griffin Capital Securities where he served as president and Head of Distribution and was instrumental in orchestrating Griffin’s rise to industry-leading fund raising, bringing in approximately $7 billion in equity over a 4.5 year span.

Schwaber is also lauded for his success as a founding partner and Head of Capital Markets and Distribution at Behringer Harvard, where he oversaw an equity intake of approximately $6 billion.
Schwaber has overseen over $13 billion of equity raise, making him one of if not the highest raising and most successful capital market heads in the history of the direct investment industry.
