Several of New York’s leading accounting professionals working in the real estate industry have developed a new association for women called the Association of Women Accountants in Real Estate (AWA+RE). The group, founded by Robbin Orbison, CFO of Silverstein Properties, will act as a career development resource for members by hosting events and networking opportunities throughout the year. Other members of the organizing committee include leaders from CohnReznick Group, Friedman LLP, Fundamental REO, LeFrak and Related. AWA+RE is looking for new members who perform accounting, tax and business consulting services in various capacities to a sector of the real estate industry, including investment, development and management companies, or in related industries such as construction, brokerage and real estate lending/financing. “It’s incredible that we’ve already assembled such a prestigious group of women leaders for our organization committee,” said Orbison. “We look forward to seeing our group grow into an invaluable resource for women working in the industry.” For more information on membership, email info@awareny.org.
