GKA to design new hotel

Gene Kaufman Architect, P.C. (GKA) has been tapped to design a new location of The Jade Hotel, a boutique hotel brand developed by Gemini Real Estate Advisors.

In association with Atelier & Co., which worked with GKA on the phenomenally successful Greenwich Village location of The Jade at 52 West 13th St., the new hotel will be situated steps from Bryant Park on 38th Street.

“This new Jade will build on the overwhelming reception and success of the Greenwich Village project. Our design for that building was embellished with architectural features and classical detailing reflective of the historic character of the neighborhood in which it resides,” said Gene Kaufman, founder of GKA.

“The design for this new project takes this initial approach to a much higher level, building on the great architectural tradition of late 19th century and early 20th century New York. The building will be more reminiscent of classic McKim Mead & White buildings than of any new building in the city.”

The hotel will offer 114 rooms and is set to open in late 2015.
