E-J Electric secures traffic, lighting contracts

E-J Electric Installation Co. has been commissioned by the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) to complete multiple roadway projects throughout the city of New York.

Contracts include the Midtown Tunnel, Brooklyn and Manhattan Traffic Signal, Rockaways Boardwalk, Kosciuzko Bridge and LED Lighting.

The Queens Midtown tunnel sustained heavy damage during superstorm Sandy and is undergoing operational recreation.

E-J Electric will rehabilitate the tunnel by replacing and upgrading all tunnel systems including, lighting, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Communications and Security systems.

E-J Electric will provide complete maintenance response and coverage of the New York City traffic signal system in the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn for a two-year term.

The proper maintenance of the New York City traffic signal system is a vital service to the motoring and pedestrian public in order to streamline traffic flows and mitigate potential hazards that could cause traffic collisions.

At Rockaways Boardwalk, the firm is installing lighting and power systems after the original boardwalk was destroyed by superstorm Sandy.

This reconstruction of this iconic attraction represents the restoration of a community destroyed by disaster and E-J Electric is proud to be involved.

Kosciuzko Bridge, which connects Greenpoint, Brooklyn and Maspeth, Queens as part of Interstate 278is undertaking is one of the first major bridge replacements to occur in decades in the New York City area.

This project is the largest design-build project ever awarded by the NYCDOT, and the E-J team will provide design assist services and a full electrical installation for the bridge including power, roadway lighting, bridge lighting, ITS systems and new traffic signal installation.

E-J Electric is also h replacing 11,000 decorative teardrop street lights with new LED energy savings technology throughout all five boroughs.

This large, multi-borough contract requires large-scale installation in a 24-month timeframe and will ultimately increase sustainability.
