Sotheby’s smoothie Stan Ponte has gone to contract on a coveted Tower Residence at the Sherry Netherland.

Encompassing the entire 34th floor of the illustrious property, little is known about the glamorous home but what crumbs Mr Ponte has fed us through his listing notice.
“Private landing … expansive living and dining area … ideal for quiet reflection or entertaining on a grand scale,ˮ reads the all-too-brief narrative. “Dazzling south and east light … library … unique offering.ˮ
Built as a hotel in the 1920s for William Waldorf Astor, the property has 165 apartments that were converted to co-ops in 1954. There are 54 hotel rooms and suites and, in the tower above the 24th floor, there are single apartments to a floor.
Owners at The Sherry enjoy 24-hour doorman, concierge and in-house security, twice daily maid service, beauty salon, gym and room service by Harry Cipriani.
Mr Ponte co-listed the home with colleague Randall Gianopulosat $11.24 million. In an email, his only comment was: “No comment.ˮ
In other Sherry news, Douglas Elliman’s Lisa Simonsen has taken over the $95 million penthouse listing from Dolly Lenz. Kathy Sloan at Brown Harris Stevens remains co-listing broker.
