For Douglas Elliman broker Tamara Marotta, it was about keeping the faith and waiting for the one. That’s how she closed on a record-breaking price for a townhouse in Hamilton Heights, just under $5 million.

The 5,300 s/f home, at 326 Convent Avenue, is a 20-foot wide, five-floor home with original woodwork on the parlor floor, limestone walls, pewter counters, hand-cut mosaic tiles in the bathrooms, and herringbone oak floors.
“The house was listed at a record breaking price, but I was unapologetic,” said Marotta, who represented the seller. “The house was worth it, I knew it, and the buyers knew it. It took a while and we rejected many offers. But then the market met us.”
The home was originally listed for $4.95 million. “In this case the seller designed the townhouse to his own taste and he was not afraid to make statements through design, supposedly a big no, no in resale. But he loved the house and really didn’t care if it sold.”
