The award-winning leasing team of Faith Hope Consolo, chairman, Joseph Aquino, executive vice president, and Arthur Maglio of Douglas Elliman’s Retail Group has been named exclusive agent for another Harlem retail portfolio, this time comprising nine buildings with a total of 25,000 s/f of retail space.
“This is another great opportunity to bring new services and stores to Harlem,” said Consolo. “Last year, we arranged a lease for The Children’s Aid Society at 219 West 135th Street and we expect to continue meeting the needs of the community with medical and educational facilities, as well as vibrant retail.”
Added Maglio, “Harlem is huge and incredibly diverse; the southern part of the district is as different from the northern part, as East is from West. This particular section has a strong community base but up until now has been underserved by retail, so there is plenty of room for introducing a variety of new businesses here.”
Five of the buildings in the portfolio are on a central transverse at 135th Street, between Adam Clayton Powell and Frederick Douglass Boulevards, one is on Adam Clayton Powell Blvd., and three are on the revitalized Frederick Douglass Blvd. retail corridor, between 134th and 136th Streets. Store sizes range from 500 to 5,000 s/f.
The Douglas Elliman Retail Group team has been responsible for bringing a wide variety of businesses to Harlem, including Ottomanelli’s Wine & Burger Bar, Chill Berry, Maharaja Palace, Pa-paya Seed, City Cookhouse, Harlem Wine Gallery, Unity Wines & Spirits, Marcel Cleaners and Instant Refund Tax Center.
In addition to the Children’s Aid Society, they have also been instrumental in securing locations for numerous government groups, community-based organizations and medical facilities.
