Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers held a groundbreaking event to commemorate the construction of its new Scarsdale location, which is set to open in early 2014.
Customer demand prompted the deli to build a new, standalone restaurant with a second-story catering space and a full bar. It will be the first Ben’s with a second-story catering venue and the second to have a full bar, after the Manhattan location. “We really want our Scarsdale location to have a much broader appeal,” said Scott Singer, president and CSO of Ben’s.
“With this Ben’s, we’re looking to evolve the traditional delicatessen of yesteryear into a more modern offering for today’s busy consumers and families who want convenience, but don’t want to sacrifice quality.”
To that end, the 5,700 s/f space will have a different, more embellished menu than other Ben’s locations — with an extensive list of freshly made daily specials that will appeal to a broader customer base — in addition to the traditional Kosher deli fare that made Ben’s famous.
The Scarsdale restaurant will be the seventh incarnation of the renowned 40-year-old establishment, with three locations on Long Island and one each in Manhattan; Queens; and Boca Raton, FL.
The groundbreaking event was held at the site of the new Ben’s, located at 718 Central Park Avenue in Scarsdale. Local elected officials, representatives from Ben’s, religious leaders and area customers attended.
