Yoga brand takes 17,000 s/f Thor retail space at 164 Fifth Avenue

Thor Equities has leased 164 Fifth Avenue in Flatiron to Los Angeles-based women’s yoga clothing brand Alo Yoga for its New York flagship store, company executives announced today.

Alo Yoga has signed a long-term lease for the entire 17,600-square-foot, four-story retail and office building. The location will feature a multi-level retail and showroom space, as well as a yoga studio, café and juice bar.

“Flatiron is becoming increasingly popular with performance and fashion-forward brands, making 164 Fifth Avenue the ideal location for Alo Yoga to open its first New York store,” said Melissa Gliatta, COO of Thor Equities.

Chris Kuklinski and Alissa Bersin of The McDevitt Company represented Alo Yoga.  Alexandra Frangos and Sam Polese of Thor Equities represented the landlord. According to local brokers, asking rent for the ground floor space at building was $400 per square foot.

Among the stores that have opened in Flatiron in recent years are Sweaty Betty, Tory Sport, Lululemon, Nike Running and New Balance. Other recent additions to the neighborhood include the first Bonobos Guideshop, Frye, and Lou & Grey. 164 Fifth Avenue features double-height ground floor windows, and over 30 feet of frontage on Fifth Avenue between 21st and 22nd Streets. Thor owns additional Flatiron properties at 172 Fifth Avenue, 139 Fifth Avenue and 933 Broadway.
