Thornton Tomasetti announced that Hauke Jungjohann has joined its New York office as vice president and East U.S. region leader for the Façade Engineering practice.
Jungjohann has 13 years of experience in façade design and structural engineering, with a focus on parametric modeling, complex geometries and the application of new materials.
Prior to joining Thornton Tomasetti, Jungjohann was director of Knippers Helbig’s New York office, which he helped to launch in 2010.
He also worked at the Basel, Switzerland-based architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron and the structural engineering office of Schlaich Bergermann & Partner in Stuttgart, Germany.
Jungjohann’s resume includes such projects as the Milan Fair in Italy, Roche Tower I in Basel, a sustainable theme park in Shanghai, the Pérez Miami Art Museum in Florida, and the ARC River Culture Pavilion in Daegu, South Korea.
Jungjohann is responsible for overseeing the firm’s façade engineering projects and staff along the East Coast. He will collaborate with the firm’s Façade Engineering practice leaders in London, Los Angeles, and Chicago as well as its
structural engineering and sustainability teams across the organization on growth initiatives and expanding the firm’s services.
Jungjohann holds a Diplom-Ingenieur in civil engineering from Technische Universität Braunschweig in Germany, and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where he was a Fulbright scholar. He also holds a master’s degree in architecture from ETH Zurich.

Huntsman Architectural Group announced the addition of Lisbeth Mendizabal, RA LEED AP as senior project architect in its New York office.
A licensed architect registered in the states of New York and New Jersey, Mendizabal brings 18 years of experience in the design and project management of new building construction, building renovation, and interiors for corporate, healthcare, and higher education clients.
In her role at Huntsman, Lisbeth will provide technical oversight and quality control on a variety of project types.
Her expertise in historic renovation and adaptive re-use will support the firm’s work on projects such as the recently commissioned renovation of 45 West 45th Street for Emmes Asset Management.
Her historic preservation and adaptive re-use projects have garnered a number of accolades including Design Merit Awards from both the New York City and State AIA Chapter as well as a New York Landmarks Conservancy Award.
Mendizabal received her Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University after also studying architecture at the Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala and at Texas A&M University.
Prior to joining Huntsman, she served as project architect with Gertler & Wente Architects, Bruce Bierman Design, and Stephen Yablon Architecture.

As Director of Transportation Systems, he is now also responsible for the workload management, professional development, and career growth of traffic professionals in the New York City office, and he is managing VHB’s traffic practice in both the public and private sectors.

Michael Speronza, AIA, LEED AP, has been named Associate of MDSzerbaty+Associates Architecture.

Wilpon has more than 25 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of new buildings, renovations, and interior design.
Wilpon’s portfolio has primarily focused on the higher education, healthcare, and the commercial market sectors, including work for Columbia University, New York University, Halaba Bank, the Wildlife Conservation Society, and many more.
A fixture in the New York City design community, Wilpon is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), and Professional Women in Construction, for which she serves on the board.
She earned her bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Los Andes and her master of architecture from the Pratt Institute Graduate School of Design.
