Who’s News: John Gicking joins Compass, Jennifer Ross tapped for director post at Ginsburg

Compass announced that Hamptons real estate veteran John Gicking has joined the company as senior managing director of sales.

With more than two decades of real estate experience, Gicking will oversee sales operations at Compass’s East Hampton and Sag Harbor locations.

Additionally, Joseph De Sane has expanded his leadership role to manage the firm’s Southampton and Bridgehampton operations.

Previously, Gicking was a manager at Sotheby’s International Realty’s East Hampton office where he drew on more than 15 years of Wall Street experience to educate and motivate his agents.

During his time as an agent, he was ranked in the top three percent of SIR sales associates nationwide.

Prior to SIR, Gicking worked in the financial industry in New York in both private banking and institutional sales and trading.

Ginsburg Development Companies has announced that Jenifer Ross has joined the company as director of community experience for the company’s new GDC Rentals brand of luxury rental apartments.

the brand will make its debut in Westchester County this month with the opening of Harbor Square in Ossining, a 188-unit property set on the Hudson River across from Ossining’s Metro-North Station.

Ross will be responsible for developing and overseeing on-site services that facilitate building community among residents and implementing a Preferred Vendor Program aimed at keeping business local and assisting new residents in getting to know (and utilize) their downtowns.

Ross is well known in Westchester circles for her on-going community efforts, including the Tarrytown Third Friday event, and as the founder and owner of W@tercooler, Westchester’s first co-working space.

She is also known for her 7,000+ Facebook group page that bares the numbers of her Zip Code, 10591 that she launched in 2011 as a micro-local posting wall.

Ross also has extensive experience in project management, event planning, administration and consulting.

She previously worked for GDC from 2004 to 2008 as a consultant and has held positions as Assistant Village Administrator for the Village of Tarrytown, Director of Development for Warner Library, and Downtown Coordinator for Sleepy Hollow’s Downtown Revitalization Corporation’s New York Main Street Facade Program.
Ross earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Skidmore College in 1989, where she majored in fine arts and minored in business. She added a master’s degree in Architectural Preservation from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a master’s degree in Gerontology from Temple University, and has twice held a Real Estate License in New York State.

John Battista has joined Laffey Fine Homes – Port Washington as an experienced agent. He was formerly with New York Realtors.

Anita Karnik has joined Laffey Fine Homes – Jackson Heights as an experienced agent. She was formerly with Douglas Elliman Property Management.

Jennifer Murphy has joined Laffey Fine Homes – Northport as an agent. She was formerly with Wood & Associates PC.

Douglas Elliman Real Estate announced that Natalie Rakowski has rejoined the firm’s New York brokerage, bringing with her a team of real estate agents including Stephen J. Gallagher, Kerry Elizabeth Lynn, and Tucky Ridder.

Consistently sought out by top real estate developers and discerning investors for her keen insights and expertise in acquisition, development planning, design, branding and sales, Rakowski is responsible for almost $1 billion in sales to-date.

Rakowski joined CORE in 2005 as a founding member and managing director, a position she has held for the past 10 years.

Specializing in strategic planning and design, she has marketed some of New York City’s finest properties across her successful two decade real estate career.

Joining Elliman with Rakowski is Stephen J. Gallagher, a seasoned broker who has worked with Rakowski for over 15 years.

Gallagher is a native New Yorker having previously held a senior position for a government agency.

Kerry Lynn specializes in luxury Manhattan real estate. She holds a Master’s degree in education and as a trained educator.

Tucky Ridder joined Natalie’s team after a successful career as a designer working on large marketing campaigns with notable clients such as Forbes, E Trade, Verizon and Jaguar.

She is a seasoned salesperson who has focused on working with international investors and clients abroad.

Rakowski graduated with an Economics degree from New York University.

At the age of 20, she began her career as a real estate broker and developer by founding a company which helped holocaust survivors and their families recover property in (former) East Berlin.

She continues to oversee a successful family jewelry business.

In 2000 she filmed and produced a documentary called “Talking Tacheles” which focused on the lives of artists squatting in an architecturally significant bombed out building in the former Jewish district of Berlin.

Suying Qian is the newest licensed salesperson to join Homes By Mara Realty.

Qian joins the firm after working as an agent with Keller Williams Gold Coast Realty in Manhasset.

Before that, she was an agent with Douglas Elliman in Syosset.

A native of China, Qian moved to the United States in 1991 and began working as an IT Programmer, a two-decade career that spanned such industries as financial, banking, insurance and education.

Companies she worked with include Morgan Stanley, Bank of New York, Equitable and Jewish Theology Seminary.

She opted to switch her focus to real estate because of its life-work balance flexibility and her desire to provide service for Asian homebuyers and sellers within Long Island’s residential market.

Qian has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science as well as Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, both from Dalian Maritime University in China.
