WHO’S NEWS in construction & design: WSP promotions; New partners at RKTB Architects

WSP has promoted 40 employees across the US.
Brian Carroll, PE, LEED AP, was promoted to senior vice president. Carroll, who works in the buildings practice in Washington, D.C., has more than 13 years of experience in the engineering design and construction administration of building systems, including nine years at WSP.
Four employees were promoted to vice president. They include: David Guan, in San Francisco; Rebecca Novak, PE, of the transportation and infrastructure practice in Briarcliff Manor, NY; Demetrios Plessias, PE, a member of the buildings practice in New York City; Nathan Wesselius, PE, LEED AP BD+C, in Seattle.

RKTB Architects, P.C. announced that Alex Brito, AIA, and Albert Aronov, AIA, have been named as partners in the firm and Alex Barclay, AIA, LEED AP, has been named as an associate.
Alex Brito, AIA, is a registered architect in New York specializing in multifamily housing design.
After joining RKTB in 1992, he became an associate in 2003, senior associate in 2007 and an associate principal in 2014.
Brito has design, production and project management experience in a diverse range of sectors, including affordable and market rate housing, transportation and education.
He has also worked extensively on pre-design phases of projects such as zoning and building code analyses.
Albert Aronov, AIA, is a registered architect in New York specializing in building restoration and new construction.
After joining RKTB in 1997, he became an Associate in 2003, Senior Associate in 2007 and Associate Principal in 2014.
Aronov has managed a diverse range of projects including academic, residential, institutional, commercial, and historic preservation, and his high level of technical experience in exterior envelope work has made him an expert in the field.
He has led RKTB’s education studio since 2004, during which time he has managed a large volume of projects for the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA).
Alex Barclay, AIA, is both a registered architect and LEED BD+C accredited.
He joined RKTB in 2011 as a Project Architect for educational projects, including the addition to P.S. 70 in Queens and multiple Universal Pre-Kindergarten renovations for the NYC School Construction Authority (SCA).
Prior to joining RKTB, Barclay worked on a variety of building types including an 8,500 s/f multi-million dollar home in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Ware Malcomb announced Heather Groff has joined the firm’s New York City office as Studio Manager, Interior Design.
Groff’s 18 years of experience spans various market sectors.
Prior to joining Ware Malcomb she served as Studio Co-Director at Vocon in New York City.

HEATHER GROFF

Also in New York City, she was an Associate at Mancini Duffy | TSC and a Senior Interior Designer at HDR CUH2A. Earlier, she served as an interior designer and project manager for various architectural firms in Boston, New York and San Francisco.
Groff holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from Wentworth Institute of Technology. She is a LEED Accredited Professional, National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) Certified.
