Shawmut completes Peter J. Tobin College renovation

Shawmut Design and Construction announced its completion of the renovation and expansion of the Peter J. Tobin College of Business on the Queens Campus of St. John’s University.

This completion marks the largest project for Shawmut’s Institutional group to date in the New York region.

Shawmut renovated the 70,000 s/f, four-story space to serve as the new home of the university’s Tobin College of Business.
The team created an expanded lobby area, a financial lab, central staircase, new outdoor patio area with a sloped glass entry, and modified the front façade to install a new curtainwall system.

The space also includes new classrooms, a multi-purpose space, faculty offices, student study areas, collaboration areas, a career service center, and a start-up incubator lab.

“Collaborating with St. John’s University to bring their vision of a flexible learning environment to life was an exciting task for our team,” said Tony Miliote, Shawmut vice president. “It was a rewarding experience to upgrade a space at the university that will foster connections and collaboration within the community.”

Shawmut worked with Cannon Design on the renovation.
