Rockefeller Group building state-of-art cancer center in New Jersey

The Rockefeller Group announced that it will develop a 130,000 s/f state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility at the Green at Florham Park, a 268-acre, master-planned development that is home to the New York Jets and BASF’s North American Headquarters.

The Rockefeller Group expects to break ground this summer on the facility that it is developing on behalf of a partnership between Summit Medical Group and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, which recently signed a long-term lease at the property.

“Our goal is to transform how healthcare and cancer treatment is delivered to New Jersey, and the new Summit Medical Group MD Anderson Cancer Center will give us the ability to do that,” said Jeffrey Le Benger, M.D., FACS, chairman and chief executive officer of Summit Medical Group.

“Given the Rockefeller Group’s stellar track record and vision for bringing highly innovative projects to market, we are confident that our new cancer center will make a lasting impact on patient-centered cancer care in the tri-state region.”

Summit Medical Group, which also occupies a separate, 100,000 s/f medical office building at the Green at Florham Park, is New Jersey’s largest multispecialty physician group, with more than 600 practitioners in 67-plus locations throughout central and northern New Jersey.

“The Green at Florham Park is the ideal location for this world-renowned facility, and we’re excited to bring such a well-respected healthcare provider to Northern New Jersey,” said Clark Machemer, senior vice president and regional development officer for the Rockefeller Group’s New Jersey office.

“Our concept for the Green at Florham Park has evolved over time, where the real innovation has stemmed from not just recognizing, but responding to community needs and trends.  The overall Rockefeller Group vision, to create long-term economic and civic value for the community, could not be more evident than in a project like this. Summit Medical Group MD Anderson Cancer Center’s decision to partner with us at this site is a significant benefit to the entire New Jersey community.”

In addition to the Summit Medical Group MD Anderson Cancer Center, the Rockefeller Group recently broke ground on AVE Florham Park, a flexible-stay community that will feature 256 corporate suites.

Also at Florham Park, LodgeWorks will be developing ARCHER Hotel Florham Park, one of Morris County’s only new-build hotel projects in recent years.
