Relocation co. Updater makes its own move to Union Square

Updater, a company that provides a personalized service for millions of people relocating every year, is expanding into a full floor at 19 Union Square West.

Lee & Associatesʼ Dennis Someck and Justin Myers arranged the 10-year lease for 9,233 s/f on the 12th floor in a move that more than quadruples its current, 2,300 s/f office space at 1140 Broadway. The landlord is doing a buildout of the top-floor space.

Someck, who represented the tenant with Myers, said, “Financiers have naturally taken notice of Updater’s rapid growth, and the tenant is now ready to make a move of its own to accommodate its growing team.ˮ

Charles Conwell, Managing Director of ABS Partners Real Estate, who represented the owner, said, “The surrounding windows and sweeping views of Union Square Park make this a highly attractive space, and Updater will fit right in with this vibrant and creative neighborhood.”

Updater, which also has a satellite office in Raleigh, NC, will relocate its New York headquarters in late summer 2016. Asking rent was $75 per square foot.
