It gives me great pleasure to announce this week that The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) has welcomed our 16,000th member, this marks a significant milestone for our organization and caps a period of steady growth and influence over the years.
The journey to 16,000 members has been a gradual process since 1896 when a group of 27 commercial brokers began holding weekly meetings at an office on Liberty Street. In 1986, when I became REBNY President, there were just over 4,000 of us.
I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to all of our devoted members who have made this achievement possible. It is through the work of our members that we are able to carry on REBNY’s advocacy for the real estate industry and to New York City as a whole.
There is no doubt in my mind that I have learned as much from our members as they have from REBNY’s many seminars, discussions, and classes, and as we approach the end of our 118th year, it is inspiring to know that REBNY’s membership continues to grow.
In recognition of our thousands of REBNY Residential and Commercial Brokers and Sales Agents, we have officially launched a new REBNY marketing campaign on CBS Radio New York broadcast and digital media properties. We did this not only to increase the public’s awareness of our organization, but also to make sure that New Yorkers understand the differences between a Broker/Sales Agent and a REBNY Broker/Sales Agent.
Our Brokerage Division’s Residential and Commercial Leadership offer informative classes and seminars hosted by industry leaders, such as the Rental Clinics, Crossfires, Negotiation Seminars, Sales Agent Bootcamps, and more. Members of our Residential and Commercial Brokerage Divisions agree to follow an industry code of ethics, and through rigorous teaching and training, our brokers and sales agents represent the very best our industry has to offer in the way of professionalism, dedication, and commitment to excellence.
This campaign is designed to make sure the consumer knows that when you’re working with a REBNY agent, it makes all the difference. It means you’re working with the right agent who has received top training, has access to the best resources, and can be trusted to offer highly skilled assistance for your real estate transaction.
Listeners of three major New York City radio stations may have already heard the new REBNY radio ads. You can keep an ear out for them on 1010 WINS, the most listened to news station in the nation, CBS-AM Newsradio 880, and Fresh 102.7.
In addition to the radio ads, we are also kicking off a digital media campaign on the CBS local NY website, which will feature streaming radio spots targeting New York City residents and businesses.
