On Tuesday, Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey and Triple Five detailed plans for the massive Meadowlands mall formerly known as Xanadu. The stalled complex has been renamed American Dream@Meadowlands, and will be expanded to 3 million s/f by Triple Five, which owns the Mall of America in Minneapolis. The state of New Jersey is providing around $200 million in financing, while Triple Five has committed to investing over $1 billion to add features that include a skating rink, while retaining previous elements such as an indoor ski slope. The mall is expected to open in 2013.
