The New York Building Congress is set to launch a media campaign to let New Yorkers know how much the industry contributes to city life.
“We touch the lives of every person living and working here – whether we’re building new train stations or bridges; schools, housing and office towers; or parks, museums and arenas,” said Milo E. Riverso, New York Building Congress Board Chair.
“For the first time, the Building Congress will lead an industry-wide media campaign designed to inform everyone from elected officials to everyday New Yorkers about the essential work the building community does and how vital we are to the success of New York.”
In addition, the Building Congress is launching Ascend 2019, a new innovation and technology conference, bringing together thought leaders on the forefront of building innovation to discuss new and existing technologies that can reshape the industry.
The announcements came at the annual Membership Meeting, which featured a keynote address from First Deputy Mayor Dean Fuleihan.
Department of Design and Construction Commissioner Lorraine Grillo also delivered a presentation on the future of the Department of Design and Construction, revealing a comprehensive Strategic Blueprint to improve capital project delivery across New York City.
“We are excited to share the release of our Strategic Blueprint with the New York Building Congress. We are addressing critical issues about design and construction in the public sector that the Building Congress has long highlighted. We look forward to working with the Building Congress and its members to implement this plan,” said Commissioner Grillo.
“The state of our city is clearly strong. Over the past five years, we’ve made major investments. Today, we know they are paying off,” said First Deputy Mayor Fuleihan.
“We have not only achieved our goals, we have achieved them with fiscally responsible budgets. This city will and can keep growing. And we need the construction industry as our partners to keep this going.”
Carlo A. Scissura, President & CEO of New York Building Congress, said, “While continuing to lead the charge on projects presently being planned and developed, the Building Congress will also have an eye fixed firmly on the future, formulating groundbreaking ideas and advocating for the projects of tomorrow and beyond.”
