NEW YORK—April 25, 2014— Norco Construction (Norco) is pleased to announce that it has completed the build-out of the new 10,000 square-foot Tavern on the Green restaurant designed by architect Richard H. Lewis, marking a revival for the 150-year-old iconic Central Park dining space.
An Elegant Return
Norco fitted the high-end space with luxurious finishes including marble countertops and aged wood flooring, panels and trusses to match the style and old-line charm associated with the historic Tavern on the Green name. The firm also installed elegant chandeliers and lighting fixtures to compliment the restaurant’s sophisticated interior, while fashioning the exterior with a refined façade, lampposts of the highest quality and a graceful canopy to welcome guests.
In addition, Norco effectively installed the landmark building’s infrastructure, including complete mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, to ensure restaurant operations would begin on time and run efficiently.
Overcoming Complex Challenges
Norco developed a comprehensive construction calendar and displayed superb project management ability to overcome the project’s complex schedule, which called for Norco’s contractors and New York City contractors to be operating simultaneously at the restaurant with upwards of 150 tradesmen all working towards the same end-result. Norco’s resourcefulness, effective communication with city contractors and aggressive approach to executing the construction calendar allowed Norco to complete the project before the deadline, giving the restaurant ample time to prepare for its grand reopening.
