NEW DEVELOPMENT: Tadao Ando’s first residential building in NYC; d’Orsay tops out

Architectural first tops out in Nolita

feb15tandoSumaida + Khurana announced the topping out of 152 Elizabeth, Pritzker Prize winner Tadao Ando’s first residential building in New York City.
“This is a major milestone for 152 Elizabeth,” said Amit Khurana, founding partner of Sumaida + Khurana. “The project represents a commitment to creating unique architectural value and setting a new benchmark for quality in residential development.”
The luxury building is the product of a design collaboration between Tadao Ando and FAIA award-winning architect and designer Michael Gabellini, of Gabellini Sheppard Associates. 152 Elizabeth will feature Ando’s hallmarks: poured-in-place concrete, burnished metal, voluminous glass and a living green wall.
152 Elizabeth’s façade system and exterior glass enable a high OITC rating to ensure a tranquil home environment. Units have wide plank Danish oak flooring from Dinesen and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Kitchens are outfitted with custom cabinetry, Gaggenau appliances, a custom sliding countertop island by Milan-based Minimal, and honed Fango marble countertops. Master bathrooms are clad in honed Bianco Sivec marble and a radiant floor heating system.
Other features include dehumidification systems in each home – perfect for art collectors, as well as Gabellini Sheppard Associates’ signature “reveals,” a design feature that creates floating volumes and planes.
The building also offers an automated parking garage with parking spaces available for purchase, a 24-hour doorman and additional private storage. Pricing for half-floor residences starts at $5,750,000 million, and $14,800,000 million for full-floor homes. Leonard Steinberg and Debra LaChance of Compass are the exclusive sales and marketing agents.

d’Orsay development milestone

The d’Orsay, a luxury boutique condominium located at 211 West 14th Street, has officially topped out.
Developed by Adellco, the 11-story building celebrates the first condominium with interiors by “AD 100” French designer Jacques Garcia.
“We are very excited to have completed this phase of our building,” said Matthew Adell, president of Adellco. “This feat could not have been accomplished without all of our partners, but especially our talented design and construction team.”
Inspired by the industrial lofts of the Meatpacking District, the façade was designed by Goldstein, Hill & West Architects. dorsay2
The Jacques Garcia-designed interiors create a dynamic marriage between old and new.
With 21 residences, ranging from one to four bedrooms, each home is drenched in natural light. The majority have private outdoor space.
Mary Ellen Cashman of Stribling Marketing Associates, the exclusive Sales and Marketing team for the d’Orsay, said, “Buyers are attracted to the thriving neighborhood and the concept of a luxury boutique building in a dynamic location which has transformed into a bustling high-end retail, dining, cultural and residential mecca.”
Amenities include a full-time concierge and doorman, a rooftop garden, a drawing room, sky-lit fitness center, spa with a steam room, plunge pool and treatment room, as well as bicycle storage and private storage available for purchase.
Occupancy is slated for 2017. One-bedrooms start at $1.675 million, two-bedrooms at $3.125 million and three-bedrooms at $4.275 million.
