Members of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) Residential Management Division came together for the 15th Annual Residential Management Leadership Awards Breakfast at the Roosevelt Hotel.
A record-breaking 430 attendees turned out to support Michael Rothschild, vice president of A.J. Clarke Real Estate, who was honored with the Residential Management Executive of the Year Award. Shaun Donovan, the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, was the keynote speaker.
The Residential Management Executive of the Year award is presented to an individual who exemplifies leadership and a commitment to the industry.
Rothschild’s company manages over 150 properties and 5,000 units and has been recognized for its high quality of service and integrity in the industry. He specializes in financial management, refinancing and acquisitions as well as oversight of capital improvement projects.
“Michael is one of the finest leaders in residential management,” said REBNY President Steven Spinola.
“His experience and years of hard work have earned him this recognition and REBNY is pleased to honor him. Michael has been a valued member of REBNY and the Residential Management Council since 1995.”
Michael Wolfe of Midboro Management, last year’s winner and current chair of the Best Practice Committee, presented the award to Rothschild.
During Secretary Donovan’s keynote address, he discussed HUD’s management of the mortgage crisis, Fannie Mae, FHA, and the agency’s efforts to help stabilize the housing market.
He also discussed Hurricane Sandy and the continued efforts to help those affected with financial and regulatory issues. “We know that success will not be defined by building things back the way they were – or by ignoring those communities that were struggling long before the storm hit,” said Donovan.
“Success means lifting up every community impacted by the storm, ensuring that they rebuild in a way that makes them stronger, more economically sustainable and better able to withstand the next storm.”
The Residential Leadership Breakfast Planning Committee is comprised of co-chair Donald H. Levy of Brown Harris Stevens, co-chair Leslie Bogen Winkler of Penmark Management, Ellen Gribben Bornet of Rose Associates, Paul Gottsegen of Halstead Management Company, Benjamin Kirschenbaum of Cooper Square Realty, Albert Mayas of Greenthal Management, Dmitri Naylor of Webb & Brooker, Margaret O’Connor of The Brodsky Organization, Stuart Saft of Holland & Knight LLP, and Michael Wolfe of Midboro Management.
