Paul Massey’s mayoral campaign announced today it has raised more than $850,000 during the two-month filing period of January 12 – March 11, exceeding the previous March candidate fundraising record of approximately $739,000, according to a press release from Massey for Mayor.
According to the New York City Campaign Finance Board, Massey’s campaign has raised $2,897,663 so far in private funds, and spent $1,960,646 on the campaign.
In a statement accompanying the fundraising news, Massey took a not-so-subtle dig at Mayor Bill de Blasio for raising funds outside of New York City for his re-election campaign.
“I have spent the last two months traveling around the City, talking with hard-working men and women from all walks of life about the issues they care about,” said Massey in the press release.“Almost without exception, New Yorkers tell me that they are ready for a new mayor. Unfortunately, Bill de Blasio (D-Ft. Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Chicago) had to fly around the country to raise money for his campaign because he and his Administration remain under a cloud of corruption. I will do whatever it takes to win this election, to ensure our children, seniors and most vulnerable are given more importance than the special interests, and most important, bring back integrity to City Hall.”
Massey formally launched his campaign on Monday. He will be hitting the campaign trail hard this week, with plans to spend time in each borough talking to residents about jobs, homelessness and affordable housing, education, and quality of life, according to his campaign.
