The Kaufman Organization announced today that men’s digital lifestyle magazine, Barstool Sports has signed its second 5,909 s/f, full-floor lease in less than a year at the firm’s NoMad office building, 15 West 27th Street (15W27). Since signing its first lease for the third-floor in April of 2016, Barstool is now expanding onto the second-floor, occupying a total of 11,800 s/f. Currently being custom designed by Kaufman to fit Barstool’s needs, the second-floor space features a significant retail presence and oversized windows facing 27th Street. Michael Heaner, principal of Kaufman, Grant Greenspan and Elliot Warren represented the landlord in the transaction. Asking rent was in the mid-60’s psf and expected occupancy is March 2017.
Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) announced that Jonathan Simkhai Inc., a high-end women’s fashion designer based in New York, has signed a 5,500 s/f lease for showroom and office space at 252 West 37th Street in the heart of the Garment District. Jamie Jacobs and Brittany Silver of NGKF represented the building’s owner, Eretz Group, in the transaction. Jonathan Simkhai moved into the new space during the first week of January, occupying a majority of the third floor. Existing tenants of the property include Diane von Furstenberg. 252 West 37th Street currently has two tower floor spaces available for lease.
Commercial space planning and interior design firm MKDA announced the relocation and expansion of its Stamford, CT design studio from One Stamford Landing to George Comfort & Sons’ 208 Harbor Drive at Shippan Landing. The design firm signed a 10-year lease for 4,550 s/f of office space on the second floor. A joint venture comprised of George Comfort & Sons and Angelo Gordon & Co., Shippan Landing consists of six buildings of Class-A office space situated on 17 acres at the Stamford Harbor waterfront.
