HAVE YOU HEARD: Nino Vendome on hunt for site to build Philip Johnson’s Habitable Sculpture

Johnson’s Habitable Sculpture

Developer Nino Vendome, chairman of Vendome Development, is finalizing the details of his long in-the-works project, The Habitable Sculpture, a 26-story structure considered both art and accommodation.
The project is a collaboration with the late architect Philip Johnson, and the Vendome team is considering a number of sites to begin finally building the property originally designed 17 years ago.
“I am embarking on a plan to bring my vision and Philip Johnson’s iconic design to fruition, creating a work of art people will live in far into the future,” Vendome told Broker’s Weekly.
“My goal is to construct the Habitable Sculpture on a site that will give it the recognition it deserves, both domestically and internationally.
“This new paradigm will, for the first time and in a single transaction, allow for the simultaneous investment in art and real estate with Philip Johnson being the first architect to have a structure formally recognized as sculpture and he, the architect, recognized as an artist.”

DOUGLAS ELLIMAN’S Max Dobens is powering up for his annual Ride to REiNVENT.
For the past five years, Dobens and a crew of hardy DE agents have cycled 100 miles to the annual company convention held in Atlantic City, NJ, to raise money for God’s Love We Deliver.

This year, the convention is being held October 21 at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut and Dobens has created two routes for riders.
The “Century” ride is 100 miles long and departs from New Canaan, CT and the “Sprint” ride is 35 miles long and departs from Branford, CT.
“The route change continues to support the metaphor that the Ride to REiNVENT is like real estate – faced with a new venue I have spent lots of time planning the new routes which was especially challenging as CT is very hilly,ˮ said Dobens.
“We now have a course that works. One must expect change and quickly adapt to it in order to remain successful in real estate and in life. Also on the Ride to REiNVENT.ˮ To find out more go to
