Douglas Elliman broker Jessica Cohen is again participating in an event to benefit the Samuel Waxman Cancer Foundation as a member of the fundraising committee for the “A Hamptons Happening.”
Now in its ninth year, it will be held at the home of Maria and Kenneth Fishel in Bridgehampton, NY on Saturday, July 27, from 6:30- to 9:30 p.m. This year’s honorees are four-time James Beard Award-winner Chef Todd English and fashion icon Ruth Finley, founder of the Fashion Calendar.
“I have been participating in the Hamptons Happenings fundraiser for four summers now,” says Cohen. “It is an event that has great personal meaning for me. Last year, Dr. Waxman treated my mother for stage three cancer and today, we celebrate having her here, for which we will be forever grateful to him.”
Considered a highlight of the Hampton’s social calendar, “A Hampton’s Happening” has raised more than $1 million since its inception and is anticipated to garner another $500,000 this year. The benefit will feature a wide array of dishes prepared by Chef English, owner of 20 restaurants nationwide, and his team. In addition, several local restaurants will be participating, including Loeb Boathouse, Bareburger, SEN Sushi, Wafles & Dinges, La Churreria and Kyotofu.
Adds Cohen, “We raise money to fund the research grants that the Foundation awards to institutions worldwide, which have produced phenomenal discoveries leading to a cure for cancer.”
