German firm launching co-living units on the LES

Medici Living Group, Europe’s largest co-living provider, has announced it will begin to rent its first co-living spaces in the newly built Quarters-houses located on New York’s Lower East Side in Manhattan and the Mitte district of Berlin. The buildings have been set up together with partners and the residential units are leased on a long-term base. The concept is intended to provide a home for an international community of creative spirits, young entrepreneurs and digital nomads.

Quarters New York offers a total of 47 co-living spaces. Each apartment has three rooms, a kitchen and two bathrooms. It also offers amenity areas like a communal kitchen with dining area, a reading corner, ping-pong table and an open-air cinema with bar on the roof terrace. Quarters Berlin and New York will officially start leasing in May 2017.

“We want to provide European co-living spirit to our New York community by offering an authentic flat-sharing experience and generous amenity areas where the community can hang out together and enjoy their free time,” said Robert Gmeiner, founder and managing director, Medici Living Group. “Quarters New York will  be a happy place supporting members life goals by providing a community of like-minded people and a place where they feel at home. The Community Manager organizes regular community events, curated both for those members wanted to expand their professional network in the city, or for those looking to disconnect while enjoying a glass of wine.”

Quarters offers its members modern design and smart technology. “We provide tech features to make renting and living as easy as possible for our members, said Gmeiner. “They will be able to manage all communications for their co-living space via the Quarters App. After they have booked their co-living space online on, they can manage their contract, the lease and member support via the Quarters app. In addition, the community will be able to use the app to network worldwide, sign-up for community events and book additional services.”

Quarters is partnering with leading shelter, design and tech brands.  Casper is supplying mattresses, sheets and pillows to provide the best possible sleep environment for Quarters members. Clay by Salto is providing wireless door locks, so Quarters members will no longer have to carry keys and can enter and move around the building hassle-free by using an opening app .

“Quarters is intended to bring together young people from all over the world who want to be part of a community, enjoy a laid-back lifestyle and live in the heart of the city,”  Robert Gmeiner said. “We are looking forward to launching Quarters New York and Berlin, and to offer members a lively, creative community in our two new co-living houses.”
