Gabe Marans, managing director at Savills Studley, has been named the Real Estate Board of New York’s (REBNY) 2014 Most Promising Commercial Salesperson of the Year.
Dubbed the Rookie Award, the accolade was presented at REBNY’s Members’ Luncheon at the Hilton New York last week.
Marans was honored before the more than 650 industry leaders who were in attendance.
James Nelson, chair of REBNY’s Commercial Board of Directors and Partner at Cushman & Wakefield (formerly Massey Knakal), presented the award to Marans, the 18th winner to be inducted into REBNY’s Circle of Winners group since the creation of the award in 1996.
“Since beginning his career in commercial real estate with Savills Studley five years ago, Gabe has demonstrated tenacious initiative and great enthusiasm to pursue and cultivate meaningful business relationships,” said Mitchell S. Steir, chairman and CEO of Savills Studley.
“He consistently demonstrates unparalleled professional ethic and inspiring leadership qualities. The exceptional moral quality with which Gabe approaches every situation, together with his team player mentality and innate attention to detail, make him an invaluable asset to our firm.”
“Gabe is distinguished by both his colleagues and clients as a true team player with unparalleled talent, ingenuity, dedication, diligence, and patience – strong qualities that signify a promising future commercial real estate leader,” said Steven Spinola, REBNY President.
Marans is a member Savills Studley’s Steir team, the highest producing team in the firm’s New York office, and works under the direction of executive vice president David Goldstein and executive managing director Greg Taubin. His ambition has earned him Savills Studley’s “Best Year Ever” recognition every year since 2010.
Among his accomplishments, Marans represented technology company MongoDB in its New York Times Building relocation and expansion, won the exclusive leasing assignment for Cammack Retirement Group and represented the tenant in its proceeding renewal and relocation to 40 Wall Street, and played a significant role in several of Savills Studley’s most prominent transactions for clients including Pepper Hamilton, Major League Baseball Players Association, J. Crew, Ralph Lauren, Jones Day, Davis Wright, and Pillsbury Winthrop.
Marans is an active member of REBNY’s private Early Access Program, New York University’s Bronfman Center’s Alumni Advisory Board, and the WA-Federation of New York and its Observership Program.
As the winner, Marans receives a one-year seat on the REBNY Board of Governors. In addition, he will become a lifetime member of REBNY’s Circle of Winners group, which meets four times a year for a private dinner with top industry leaders.
The award was created by the directors of the Board’s Commercial Brokerage Division to recognize current and potential professional achievement, as well as high moral character and ethical professional behavior.
The other finalists in the running for the award were Tyler McNeil of Cushman & Wakefield, Benjamin Bass of Jones Lang LaSalle, Daniel Birney of RXR Realty, and Bryan Boisi of DTZ.
The Members’ Luncheon also featured a discussion titled: “Market Forces & Factors Behind Today’s Billion Dollar Retail & Office Deals.”
The panel was moderated by Douglas Harmon, Senior Managing Director at Eastdil Secured, and featured panelists Scott Rechler, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of RXR Realty, and Jeff Sutton, Founder & President of Wharton Properties.
