On Tuesday, October 8, BFC Partners – developer of New York’s first outlet mall, Empire Outlets – along with Casandra Properties, Crescent Consulting and the West Brighton Community Local Development Corporation, hosted a recruitment and registration symposium for minority- and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) to promote programs and construction opportunities for the forthcoming one-million-square-foot project on Staten Island’s North Shore. The well-attended symposium provided businesses with the opportunity to learn about the Empire Outlet procurement process, attend information sessions and connect with companies from the Tri-State Area. Certified firms were able to register as possible vendors for both construction and post-construction roles and firms that interested in obtaining MWBE certification began that process at the event, which was held at Richmond County Ball Park.
