Leslie J. Garfield broker Lydia Rosengarten marked the end of an era with an Upper East Side townhouse sale.
The 5,039 s/f, four-story house had been owned by the same family since the late 1940s.
It was one of the last in a series of family-owned buildings that were sold over the course of the last ten years.
It came on the market with Rosengarten in the spring and she listed it at $5.6 million.
After a number of contracts fell through, a couple came in and pursued the building aggressively and signed a contract quickly.
As end users, they plan to renovate two floors into a duplex for themselves and rent out the rest.
Air rights are intact, so the new owners have the option of building out or up.
The house sold at $4.925 million. Cesar Guevara of MQ Realty brought in the buyers.
