CONSTRUCTION WHO’S NEWS: Promotions at Goldman Copeland; Industry veterans join AKRF

Goldman Copeland Associates, PC (GOCO) has promoted three professionals to the position of Principal, and two to positions within the Associate level.
Now serving as principals are:


John McBride, PE, who has more than 25 years of experience in the electrical engineering field and, as Electrical Engineering department head, has overall responsibility for GOCO’s electrical design projects.
His expertise encompasses all facets of electrical distribution, lighting, communications systems, fire alarm and security systems, and is a specialist in mission-critical facilities.
A licensed Professional Engineer in New York State, he received his BSEE from Marquette University.


Eric Mitchell, PE. Principal, is head of GOCO’s mechanical engineering department.
He brings 22 years of experience in HVAC system analysis, life cycle cost analysis and energy utilization to provide effective design solutions. He has particular expertise in mechanical systems for laboratory, health and research facilities, as well as infrastructure and tenant MEP improvements.
He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in New York State and Maryland, and holds a BSME from Syracuse University.
Dan Colombini, PE/FPE/LEED AP, principal, is a specialist in fire code analysis, fire dynamics and modeling as well as egress systems.
During his more than a decade of experience with GOCO, he has developed creative fire protection and sustainable design solutions for major New York City properties, as well as some of New York City’s most iconic buildings. Dan is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York, and holds the LEEP AP and FPE designations. He received his BSME from the University of Vermont, and an MSFPE at Worcester Polytechnic.


Promoted to Associate levels are:
Kevin Kemp, who has more than 30 years of experience in HVAC design, encompassing a broad range of expertise in new construction, infrastructure upgrades and renovation projects.
He has spearheaded many of the firm’s assignments, including upgrades to high-rise office buildings, tenant improvements, and educational and institutional facilities. He is a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering Program at New York Institute of Technology.
Dan Galarza began his engineering career at GOCO in 2008, eventually becoming project manager and design engineer on a wide variety of HVAC designs for some of New York’s most prominent commercial and institutional facilities. Among them are complex renovations, tenant improvements and infrastructure upgrades. He received his BSME from Northeastern University.
AKRF has hired Gill Mosseri, P.E., and Jeffrey Vladyka, P.E., industry veterans who left AECOM/URS to join AKRF as senior vice presidents.
Gill Mosseri, PE, PTOE, has 20 years of experience in the execution of transportation planning, engineering, and multi-disciplinary projects.
At AECOM/URS, he served as a Vice President for Business Development, Operations Manager and a Principal-in-Charge/Project Manager in their New York City office.
Mosseri will be an important addition to AKRF’s senior management team and will play a lead role in the firm’s strategic focus on business development and marketing activities,
Serving as principal and Project Manager for numerous key New York City transportation planning and engineering projects, Mosseri has worked closely with the New York City Department of Transportation, the New York City Department of Design and Construction, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Bridges & Tunnels, and the Port Authority.
He has worked on a variety of projects including the New York City Select Bus Service program, the Henry Hudson Bridge toll plaza and approach roadway reconstruction project, the Staten Island Expressway traffic operations study and conceptual design, and the Bruckner Expressway and Sheridan Expressway interchange.
Jeffrey Vladyka will lead AKRF’s expanding Construction Management (CM)/Resident Engineering and Inspection (REI) practice.
He has more than 25 years of experience in engineering and construction management and supervision of major transportation facilities, and infrastructure programs/projects with a primary focus on commuter and intercity rail; major facilities; and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure in the New York metro area.
Previously, Vladyka was Vice President-Deputy Director of Construction Management services at URS Corporation, where he served as Project Executive on the MTA-Long Island Rail Road East Side Access Project.
