Church of the Archangels renovation complete

Colliers International | Project Management announced the completion of renovations to Stamford, Connecticut’s Church of the Archangels, a historic Greek Orthodox church built in 1958 and founded in 1919.

Colliers delivered project management services on the $2.5 million second phase of construction across 10,964 s/f of the Byzantine-style church’s fellowship facilities near Downtown Stamford.

Kurt Lavaway, Project Management Director and Associate AIA, led the Colliers Project Management team, along with Doug Goulet, Senior Construction Representative, working with Jason Konidaris, Archangels parish president and head of its master planning committee.

Following renovations to the church’s entryway, nave and altar, Phase II involved renovations to support spaces while minimizing interruptions to parish life.

Working with the master planning committee, Colliers provided project leadership for construction work on the assembly space, the rectory, parish offices, classrooms, conference room, restrooms, the kitchen and other parish spaces as well as the extension of the assembly hall, the creation of two new entry vestibules and the coordination of temporary classroom space.

Colliers’ project management services began during the bid phase and continued through to project closeout.

Colliers and the building committee worked with architect Rogers McCagg and construction manager Wernert Construction Management to ensure the delivery of the parish’s project vision.

School gets new cafeteria

Serving the Herricks Union Free School District, general contractor Stalco Construction and architect BBS Architects, Landscape Architects and Engineers have completed the renovation and expansion of Herricks High School’s cafeteria.

The $3.95 million project at the 100 Shelter Rock Road building changed a static, outdated, and inflexible cafeteria into a highly reconfigurable space that meets the evolving needs of 21st century education.

Herricks High School is a four-year high school with 1,290 students from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Today’s school cafeteria spaces must not only be able to prepare and serve food to large numbers of students, but also must be technologically advanced, capable of supporting a great number of programming types.

Stalco created the ultimate modern and attractive social hub that not only will serve 500 meals each day, it affords flexibility and features to provide a great venue for presentations, announcements, performances, and other events.

The project team made the vision created by the Board of Education and the district’s administration ­– with input from our students – a reality.

Stalco’s Vice President, Joseph M. Serpe said the company performed work during holidays and vacation periods, so as not to disturb the cafeteria’s services.

The lighting in the space is by Eaton, LightArt, and Metalux.

Upstate resort opens

The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark, a new family resort destination in the Catskills has officially opened.

Set on a portion of the 1600-acre site in Monticello, NY where Catskills bellwether The Concord Resort was formerly located, the new resprt was built with union labor under a Project Labor Agreement with the Hudson Valley Building and Construction Trades Council.

RAL Development Services (RAL) served as owner’s representative for EPR Properties for the massive, complex development. Suffolk was the construction manager.

Spencer Levine, President of RAL Development Services, said, “The Kartrite is a large and complex development with many moving pieces, and our oversight role helped ensure the best possible execution within a tight delivery schedule and budget.”

Located about 90 minutes outside of New York City, The Kartrite features New York’s largest indoor waterpark.

The luxury family resort features 324 all-suite accommodations; a two-acre indoor waterpark; a family entertainment center including arcade, mini- bowling and ropes course; eight restaurants and bars; relaxing spa; 11,000 s/f conference center, and more.

The waterpark sits underneath an energy-efficient, transparent Texlon roofing system that brings the outdoors inside.

Art warehouse complete

Developers Sudler Companies and GTJ REIT recently completed the construction and interior design on a 150,000 s/f facility into the new warehouse, office and distribution center of international art supplier Colart’s new North American headquarters. Colart, who’s art history goes back to the 1400’s and includes Picasso, Andy Warhol and David Hockney among its many famous clients, has been at 11 Constitution Avenue in Corporate Park 287 since the early 1980’s with Sudler Companies as its original landlord until GTJ REIT bought the building in 2016.

In 2018, when Colart needed a larger, more modern facility, GTJ REIT suggested the 2 Corporate Place South location within the same corporate park for its next multi-generational home.

Sudler demolished the previous office building in 2018 to accommodate Colart’s need to stay in Piscataway.

Corporate Park 287 features 2.5 million square feet of office, data center and warehouse space on 200 acres on the 287 Corridor in New Jersey, close to the NJ Turnpike and Parkway and within 50 miles of New York City.

Construction stars on final Maxwell Place building

Transwestern Commercial Services (TCS) announced construction has commenced at 1000 Maxwell Lane, the final building in Toll Brothers City Living’s mixed-use development at Maxwell Place in Hoboken, New Jersey.

1000 Maxwell Lane will feature a combination of street-level retail, office space and luxury condominiums.

TCS has been retained to provide leasing services for the 110,800 s/f of planned office space, with Managing Director Matt McDonough heading the leasing team.

1000 Maxwell Lane is part of Toll Brothers City Living’s larger Maxwell Place development including three luxury residential towers comprising 755 units, a waterfront park, and a mix of retail.

1000 Maxwell Lane will include additional street-level retail, six stories of state-of-the-art office, and five stories of elegant condominiums.

Maxwell Place is a joint venture between Toll Brothers and Pinnacle Downtown.
