BCD, formerly known as Buy China Direct, has merged into Phipps & Co., a newly formed entity that will be run and operated by founder Jake Phipps.
Phipps & Co. will continue to export manufactured goods from China and beyond, while BCD will operate as a stand-alone, wholly-owned subsidiary.
“We formed Phipps & Co. in response to a sea change that has occurred within the manufacturing industry, which was once predominately focused in China, but has now expanded globally,” said Phipps, who runs the company alongside his wife and business partner, Maya Phipps.
“With offices, operations and subsidiaries in the United States, China, Central America, South America, South Africa and Australia, we are truly a global company with a worldwide presence.”
Phipps & Co. has a strong foothold in the hospitality industry, and its subsidiaries have created custom pieces and materials for hotels such as the Ludlow Hotel, The Standard East and SoHo Hotel in New York and a variety of upscale residential developments.
Phipps & Co. offers global experience in the design, manufacture and supply of custom interior finishes, decorative building materials, lighting, casegoods, seating, furniture and millwork.
