George K. Wonica has been presented with the 2013 Realtor of the Year Award by the New York State Association of Realtors (NYSAR).
The honor was bestowed during the association’s annual Fall Business Meetings in Verona, N.Y.

A past president and active member of the Staten Island Board of Realtors (SIBOR), Wonica is the broker/owner of Castleton Corners-based Wonica Realtors & Appraisers, a firm he founded more than four decades ago.
The honor recognizes outstanding service to NYSAR at the local, state and national levels, a strict adherence to the high principles of the National Association of Realtors Code of Ethics and a commitment to civic activity and business accomplishments.
“George has worked hard for many years in support of the real estate industry, with an emphasis on improving the lives of others on Staten Island, throughout New York state and, through his contributions to the National Association of Realtors, across the country,” said Traci Cangiano, president of SIBOR.
“I can’t think of anyone more deserving to be honored with NYSAR’s Realtor of the Year Award.”
Wonica said told the gathering, “The truth is, my work in the real estate industry and the volunteer initiatives I’ve been a part of for so long continue to enrich my life. I consider myself very fortunate and I’m both grateful and humbled by this award.”
