A four-story townhouse at 236 East 19th Street has sold for $4.8 million.
The property, built in 1839, was in need of some renovation, said Matt Lesser of Leslie J. Garfield & Co., the listing broker, but the buyer saw it as an opportunity to add new features.
“Buyers were easily able to envision their family living there,” said Lesser.
The marketing period was 28 weeks, with an asking price of $5.3 million and taxes of $20,459.
“The house has original details dating back to 1800s, amazing sunlight which comes in from the south over other townhouses, and a classic layout which, I think, all attributed to the relatively quick sale,” said Lesser.
The 4,296 s/f house house could expand to 6,019 s/f under the existing zoning. It has five bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms.
