WHO’S NEWS: Chris Ward joins AECOM; New biz development boss at MKDA

AECOM announced that it has appointed Christopher O. Ward as senior vice president, chief executive, Metro New York.
Ward will be leading strategic growth of the Design and Consulting Services group in the New York City Metro area.


Prior to joining AECOM, Ward most recently served as executive vice president for major projects at Dragados USA.
His 30-plus-year career in infrastructure and government comprises experience in both the public and the private sectors, including a successful tenure at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey where he led the effort on the World Trade Center project and executed the turnaround at the site by implementing creative engineering solutions.
Ward also repositioned the commercial office space on the World Trade Center site, including negotiating and finalizing numerous real estate, transportation and freight transactions, such as the one-million-square-foot lease with Conde Nast at One World Trade Center.
Earlier in his career, Ward served in the first term of the Bloomberg administration in New York City, leading the Department of Environmental Protection in a robust expansion of its capital plan.
Previous roles also included managing director at the General Contractors Association of New York, Inc., and chief executive officer of American Stevedoring, Inc.
Corporate interior design firm MKDA announce that Adam Miller has joined its New York office as Director of Business Development.
Miller will be responsible for driving new business and maintaining client relationships within the New York, Stamford and Miami markets.
Miller brings more than 10 years of experience in sales and business development for the commercial furniture and real estate brokerage industries to the role, holding business development positions for The Atlantic Group and Workwell Partners.
He was also a licensed real estate broker who had provided tenant and landlord advisory services at Cushman & Wakefield and Newmark Grubb Knight Frank.
He earned a B.A. in History with a Minor in Business from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Huntsman Architectural Group announced the addition of Elvira Gershengorn as senior designer in its New York office.
A LEED Accredited Professional, Elvira brings 15 years of experience of corporate office design for high profile clients in the entertainment, media, technology, and finance markets. In her new role at Huntsman, she will provide design direction and project management for the firm including ongoing work for Signature Bank and new offices for management consulting firm ReD Associates in New York City.
Elvira has planned and designed the corporate headquarters of Combs Enterprises, Martha Stewart Living, Every Day with Rachael Ray, and Vice Media.
Elvira received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
Prior to Huntsman, she served as a senior project designer at The Switzer Group and as design director at HLW International in New York.
Hunter Roberts Construction Group announced that Philip C. Amarante, Jr. has joined the firm as Director of Business Development and Lisa Collie, SPHR, has joined as Director of Human Resources.
Philip Amarante brings considerable experience in real estate and client management to his new role as Director of Business Development.
Philip brings over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry to his new role. Prior to joining the firm, he represented prominent Manhattan landlords and tenants and was recognized for REBNY’s Deal of the Year award in 2000.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government from Colby College.
As Director of Human Resources, Lisa Collie will be responsible for overseeing all human resources initiatives.
Lisa previously served as Director of Human Resources and Assistant Administrator at the Norwegian Christian Home and Health Center (NCHHC).
Lisa earned a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Keller Graduate School and a Bachelor of Tourism Management degree from Mount Saint Vincent University.
Christopher Papazoglou has been named a senior supervising engineer in the New York City office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and professional services organization.
In his new position, Papazoglou will have technical and managerial responsibilities on rail design projects in the New York region. He is currently working in support of the East Side Access project.
Prior to joining Parsons Brinckerhoff, he was a senior railroad engineer with a New York engineering firm, responsible for projects involving new track alignment, structural design, traction power, and civil/drainage engineering.
Papazoglou received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Lafayette College. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
