Residents of the nearly 900-unit luxury rental building Mercedes House at 550 West 54th Street are set to welcome a new supermarket.
The building already enjoys such amenities as a wellness center and health club, indoor parking, pools and a screening room, but until now they have had to go elsewhere for their food shopping.
That soon will change as a result of a 15-year lease agreement that Two Trees Commercial has signed with MH Supermarket Corp.
The deal will bring a 5,000 s/f market right to the premises, offering delivery and catering services, as well as a large selection of prepared and packaged foods, according to Caroline Pardo, director of leasing at Two Trees Commercial.
The market, which also will be open to non-residents of Mercedes House, will open this fall.
Two Trees Commercial is a division of Two Trees Management Company, which owns and manages Mercedes House.
“The neighborhood has a wide variety of retail, but tenants often prefer the convenience of an in-building supermarket, especially upon coming home from work or on days with inclement weather,” said Pardo.
“The supermarket is another significant amenity for the residents.”
Mercedes House is a 29-story luxury residential development designed by architect Enrique Norten.
