Atlanta-based tea emporium, Teavana, will open its first Manhattan location at 1291 Lexington Avenue.
Established in 1997, the retailer offers its following of “teaologists” more than 100 varieties of loose-leaf teas and tea-related merchandise through a website and in over 269 company-owned stores in the U.S. and Canada.
RKF is the exclusive retail leasing representative for the company. The firm’s executive vice president Ariel Schuster, said Teavana was looking open its first street location in Manhattan after concentrating its North American expansion in the country’s top malls.
“1291 Lexington Avenue offered an ideal retail space for the brand to make its mark, with 41 feet of frontage in a highly trafficked location, near a major subway stop and Upper East Side cross-section,” said Schuster, who worked the deal with senior director Greg Covey and associate Justin.
RKF director Jackie Totolo, also of RKF, represented ownership, The MP 1291 Trust, in negotiations for the space, previously occupied by a wine store.
According to Schuster, Teavana was won over on the site by the busy flow of foot traffic and shoppers visiting neighborhood co-tenants such as Brookstone, Best Buy, Staples and Starbucks each day.
